Of course I believe it. I knew all of them. But some of the choices are odd, to say the least. Jayne Mansfield? For what did she deserve an Oscar? And several of the others, mostly women I have to say, never came close, from my point of view.

How many on that list could you honestly say, he (or she) was robbed? I'm not saying there weren't some deserving performances (Burton in Virginia Woolf comes to mind), but highway robbery? No.

Now Denise Richards...that's another story.

Jayne was great in THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT.

I guess the only surprise, for me, was Burton. 7 nominations...including The Spy Who Came in From the Cold. Others nominated that year:
Lee Marvin, who won for Cat Ballou (in my opinion, that was a supporting, not a lead role
Laurence Olivier for Othello (I didn't think it was a very good performance)
Rod Steiger for The Pawnbroker (he probably should have won, actually)
Oskar Werner, for Ship of Fools
(And, yes, I looked all that up.)

The only thing that surprised me was that Van Johnson was never nominated.
