Gosh, that was cute. For a little while.

Exactly! I liked it at first, even though my "whimsy" quotient isn't very high. But once you saw the premise, and that it was never going anywhere because it couldn't go anywhere, it was just rearranging the furniture. I liked Anna Friel a lot, also Chi McBride's cynicism and Kristen Chenoweth, but I could never warm to Lee Pace. Too soft, too gooey.

If you want a show about "pushing daisies" and grim reapers, my taste runs much more to the too soon departed (sorry, couldn't resist) DEAD LIKE ME on Showtime, with Ellen Muth, Mandy Patinkin (at his least annoying), Jasmine Guy, Callum Blue, and Laura Harris.

I had no idea there was a direct-to-DVD movie made of DEAD LIKE ME after the series was canceled. I'm buying the complete boxed set.

Whoopee!

Tre Six Feet Under; it's terrific. (I know nothing about Pushing Daisies, or Dead Like Me,)

Judy loved SIX FEET UNDER.

Dead Like Me - a sullen 18 year old girl is killed by a falling toilet from the space station. Instead of moving on, she becomes a "grim reaper" who has to go help the newly dead movie on to wherever they are going next. Mandy Patinkin plays her boss who gives her assignments. But the job isn't paying so she has to look for a paying job to meet the rent. (Another reaper, Jasmine Guy, is a meter maid, while some steal from the dead. They meet at a local diner for pancakes and to get their assignments.

I liked it a lot.

DLM sounds interesting; Mandy Patinkin is usually brilliant.
