Steve Shagan, R. I. P.

Hollywood Reporter: Steve Shagan, a novelist and screenwriter who earned Oscar nominations for his work on Save the Tiger and Voyage of the Damned, has died. He was 88.

"Save The Tiger" is sadly very dated in some ways now (the hitchhiking free spirit played by Kay Lenz picked up by Jack Lemmon's character for instance). But Lemmon's harrowing performance as the rag trade company owner who just wants one more season remains, for me, one of the great American film performances. Jack Gilford's performance is also excellent...
