There seems to be an infinite variety of ways in which we experience the world. I'd never heard of this one before. I can't even begin to grasp what it's like.

I can't, either, but she seems to function well enough.

What I found interesting is that she's been in a long and apparently happy marriage in part because she doesn't get angry or hold grudges or have emotional responses to memories. While that may have kept her marriage peaceful, I'd have to feel it would be like going through the greatest buffet in the world without a sense of taste--there's nothing sweet or spicy, just mouthfuls of flavorless blah.

That seems to describe her whole life, all right.
